The Fighting Hawks bring in two transfer linebackers to bolster an already loaded unit.

In an already loaded linebacking corp, North Dakota got a little stronger over the offseason. The Fighting Hawks defense welcomed Everett Williams from the University of Minnesota and Tyron Vrede from Garden City Community College. Both have made an immediate impact in the team’s first three games.

#52 Everett Williams

Senior – Mansfield, TX
6’ 1”, 250 lbs

Williams comes to Grand Forks from the University of Minnesota. He played three seasons for the Gophers with one redshirt season in 2016. He was a key player on special teams for Minnesota last season, playing in nine games. Before his redshirt season in 2016, Williams played in seven games as a sophomore in 2015 and recorded 11 tackles including a five-tackle performance against Nebraska.

#58 Tyron Vrede

Senior – Amsterdam, Netherlands
6’ 0”, 225 lbs

Vrede played in 2017 for Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas. The Broncbusters went 8-4 on the season with Vrede being a primary defensive contributor. He now joins a linebacking group that is incredibly deep on both the inside and outside of Eric Schmidt’s 3-4 defense. While he’s in the regular rotation, he has already made plays when called upon.
