“We’re excited to have another record year for fundraising,” Director of Champions Club Val Sussex said one year after taking her position with the athletic department’s annual giving program. Sussex became the director last March when Mike Mannassau moved to his position as Associate Athletics Director for Major Gifts.
The Champions Club has broken their donation record for 13 straight years. This year marked a $300,000 increase in their donation number. Memberships also saw an increase to 2,910.
Sussex credited the UND Football Game Day Experience Committee for playing a role in another increased donation year for the Champions Club.
“They have done a fantastic job making tailgating more fun and making people want to tailgate and want to get out to the parking lot,” Sussex said. “The first game was crazy, the students were there, they had great attendance all year.”
The next step for the Champions Club is capitalizing on the work that committee has done to draw in new members. The tailgating lot will be updated before next football season kicks off and is sure to enhance the game day experience for every
Champions Club member.
